Agency, Distribution and International Trade
For almost 20 years we have specialised in advising clients on their agency and distributorship arrangements.
Much of our advice is based on the Commercial Agents Regulations and the EU Agents Directive and the judgments from courts both in the UK and the EU. But we have also seen how national laws can protect distributors or expose suppliers to claims when their distributorship agreements come to an end.
Overall the Directive and the Regulations fundamentally impact on the relationship between principal and agent.
Our agentlaw team is a dedicated group of commercial and dispute resolution lawyers who have an in-depth understanding of this relationship and that which exists between suppliers and their distributors. We have a wealth of experience in this area and routinely act for both agents, principals, distributors and suppliers. The team provides specialist technical expertise in relation to the rights and obligations of parties to agency and distributorship agreements in order to maximize performance, minimise exposure or maximise claims depending on who we are advising.
We tackle difficult issues head on and suggest commercial answers.
Our specialist website www.agentlaw.co.uk gives insight into how agency and distributorship relationships are governed and how the Regulations and applicable case law are determining the future. It offers an up-to-date statement of developments and provides key information on the establishment, operation and termination of agency and distributorship agreements.
