I have a new invention which I want to exploit in the UK. How can I prevent it from being copied?
 

If you apply for and are granted a patent in respect of your invention, this will give you the right for a certain period of time to prevent others from making, using or selling the invention without your permission in the UK. Patents generally cover products or processes that have new functional or technical aspects and can cover both major innovations and small technical improvements. On application the most important considerations are generally novelty, the “inventive step” and industrial applicability.
