Life at FW

What makes us different?

Just as our clients expect a personal approach to their legal business needs, so you should rightly expect a personal approach towards your career development. That’s exactly what you’ll get at Fox Williams.

From your very first encounter with us, you’ll start to see what we mean by a truly personal approach. As well as the standard interview process, you will have the opportunity to meet with members of your future department and chat informally over drinks or coffee.  Once in the firm, you’ll see how this approach permeates across the firm colouring everything we do.

We’ve introduced a competency framework to clarify and communicate the skills and behaviours we value; this applies to everyone – fee earner and support, trainee and partner alike. Our thorough development review process ensures that you get the opportunity to discuss and agree your development needs on a regular basis. We’ve recently introduced partner reviews as well, so it’s not just about downward feedback!

Our training and development is far more sophisticated than you might expect of a firm our size. We already have tailored training programmes for different groups within the firm as well as relevant general interest seminars and individual training needs analysis. We’re now in the process of taking this to the next level by introducing a firm-wide training plan. This means that training will be even more aligned to our business objectives and will enable you to see how training will support your own development as you progress through your career with us.

Getting down to business

In your day-to-day work, you’ll see what we mean by a personal approach.  You’ll have a huge amount of direct contact with clients and we positively encourage fee earners to develop strong client relationships.  In addition, you’ll benefit from a close working relationship with your partner – this means that you’ll develop as a lawyer and as a business professional at a rapid rate – which is just as well as to succeed at Fox Williams you’ll need to be a real pro – entrepreneurial and business driven.
