Employment, HR and Immigration
Employing people, or working for them, is a serious business or career investment. When it goes right it delivers untold benefits on both sides. When it goes wrong, it can be devastating for a business's finances or for an individual's reputation.
We work hard for our employer and senior employee clients in this field and are continually trusted with some exceptional instructions - notably from City firms and senior City professionals. These include:
- Approximately 20 large City businesses, who we have advised on their restructuring and redundancy programmes.
- Many of the severance and employment contract deals that we work on are worth in excess of £1 million.
- A number have been multi-million deals - up to £25 million - and one has been in excess of £50m.
- We also acted in one of the largest High Court claims ever brought by an individual against his former employer.
We owe our reputation as market-leading City employment lawyers, we believe, to the way we combine technical excellence with a pragmatic, down to earth approach - and deep industry knowledge. We advise employers and senior employees in a whole range of sectors, and have a particularly strong reputation as a specialist in the financial and professional services sectors.
As a team we help clients with the full range of employment issues, from recruitment to retirement and from complicated day to day HR issues to the most contentious of disputes and dismissals, and the employment aspects of outsourcings and business acquisitions. We are often called upon for our particular expertise in complex litigation, team moves, sensitive regulatory and governance issues, and difficult exits of senior employees.
Whether we are supporting HR teams, senior management and in-house counsel in dealing with the multitude of employment issues they face, or providing their much sought-after service to senior employees before, during and after employment, our lawyers are always responsive and We enjoy building strong relationships with our clients; many of our employer clients are long-standing and the majority of our individual clients are referred to us by clients we have advised in the past.
