The final version of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (Amendment) Order 2011 (2011/234) was published on 16 February 2011 following the government’s response to the consultation on proposed amendments to the Scheme. It has been laid before Parliament, the Scottish Parliament, the National Assembly for Wales and the Northern Ireland Assembly and is expected to come into force on 1 April 2011.

The Amendment Order will make changes to the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme Order 2010 (SI 2010/768) such as:

  • Extending the introductory phase of the scheme to run until the end of March 2014, rather than the end of March 2013;
  • Postponing the start of each of the second and subsequent phases by two years; and
  • Removing the requirement for organisations which are not required to register as participants to make information disclosures.

Consultations are continuing on how the scheme could be further simplified and the Department of Energy and Climate Change is asking for written feedback from those with an interest in the scheme following the release of five discussion papers on 25 January 2011. The deadline for feedback is 11 March 2011.
