City law firm Fox Williams LLP has further bolstered its financial services expertise with the appointment of new Financial Services partner Nigel Brahams. Nigel joins from GFI Group, a leading inter-dealer broker and provider of financial technology and market data where he was Head of Legal EMEA, and will specialise in non-contentious financial services work at Fox Williams. Nigel’s appointment follows the recent addition of Corporate partner Andrew Woolf, former head of Corporate in the London office of Irwin Mitchell, in January 2015, and FinTech and Alternative Finance partner Jonathan Segal, from Wragge Lawrence Graham where he was head of FinTech, in November 2014.

Fox Williams has established a strong presence in financial services and Nigel will greatly enhance the firm’s existing financial services regulatory and FinTech practices. Nigel has vast experience within corporate financial services in both private practice and in-house: he qualified at Clifford Chance and has held senior in-house roles for a number of major financial institutions including Nomura, Société Générale, JP Morgan and NatWest Markets. Nigel will be able to provide legal and commercial solutions, that are relevant to the needs of the financial services industry.

Paul Osborne, Fox Williams’ Senior Partner, commented:

“I’m delighted to welcome Nigel as our 30th partner. His experience will greatly enhance our reputation and expertise in financial services regulatory work and the rapidly developing FinTech sector. Nigel’s deep understanding of the internal workings of major financial institutions will be of considerable benefit strategically to our clients in this sector. We are confident Nigel will add value and a new dimension to our current recognised offering. We are expanding our specialist financial services practice to meet our clients’ needs by bringing together specialist lawyers, who combine technical excellence with the industry insight that comes from working within a regulated firm or the Regulator itself.

Commenting on his appointment, Nigel Brahams, said: “I was a client of Fox Williams and was consistently impressed by the quality of their advice and service. When I decided to return to private practice, Fox Williams was the obvious choice, given my excellent client experience and the firm’s continued expansion and growing influence within the financial services sector, my area of expertise.”
