Fox Williams LLP acted for certain Miura shareholders who sold a minority stake in Miura and for Miura itself which received new venture capital investment. The total value of the transaction was USD 16,000,000.

Miura Systems is a leading global provider of mPOS devices, founded by the team behind payment pioneer Dione plc (now part of the Verifone group).

Miura has been awarded 3rd position in the Sunday Times SME Export Track 100. This inaugural league table ranks Miura as one of the fastest growing SME businesses in the country for international sales. Miura has rapidly accelerated to become a leading provider of innovative and highly secure electronic payment devices with a focus on mobile point-of-sale (mPOS). It now sells into over 40 international markets across five continents, and counts major payment industry players such as PayPal and Swedish mobile payment firm iZettle as customers.

Paul Osborne led the Fox Williams team and was supported by Sean Williams (Legal Director), Elliot Cowan (Associate) and Emma Bailey (Tax Partner).

Senior Partner, Paul Osborne, said “It has been fantastic to see Miura grow from a handful of people to become a leading global provider in the mPOS space. This investment represents a clear endorsement of Miura’s current technology and its potential.”

Ian Rutland, CEO of Miura said “This round of funding represents the start of the next stage of the journey in Miura’s growth. Paul and his team at Fox Williams have been with us from the beginning when we were a couple of people with some ideas about how we could change the way payments were enabled. They have provided us with sound and pragmatic advice from day one and it is reassuring to have them as part of the wider Miura team.”
