With over 30 years’ experience in the publishing and media sector and market-leading expertise in technology and digital applications and intellectual property, lawyers in our cross-departmental Publishing and Media corporate team have advised leading independent publishers, business information providers and other UK and international publishing and media companies on over 60 mergers, acquisitions, disposals and investments.
Intellectual Property and Libel
Our Publishing and Media team includes specialist intellectual property lawyers who advise publishing houses, licensing agencies, authors and other content providers on the full range of copyright, trademark, imprint and brand protection matters, and also perform an important due diligence and advisory role in support of our transactional and investment work. The team includes specialist dispute resolution lawyers who have particular experience in copyright, trade mark and defamation cases. The team can both prevent the spread of infringement and help secure financial compensation for the infringement. They can also advise on responses to allegations of infringement or defamation, including minimising the risk of such allegations being made at all.
Our Publishing and Media team also provides ongoing support and specialist advice on the preparation, review and development of key trading contracts and arrangements – including contracts with authors, editors, contributors and consultants; subscription arrangements; rights licences; co-publishing and packager agreements; agreements with e-book consolidators and distributors; agreements for the exploitation and use of electronic rights, interactive apps and social media; and agreements with agents, representatives and distributors.
