Intellectual property for fashion

We sometimes hear it said that it’s not possible to protect intellectual property in a fast-changing industry like fashion. To put the record straight: it is.

There are two issues that need to be considered - protection and exploitation. We advise on all forms of protecting trade marks, design rights, copyright, database rights, and know-how.

Our core IP focus is split across the following;

  • Brand Protection, Management and Enforcement;
  • Transaction IP and Advisory;
  • IP Dispute Resolution;
  • Technology and New Media.

Within the fashion industry, we advise Superdry brand owner SuperGroup PLC on all intellectual property issues, including management and registration of all trade marks and designs, enforcement of rights, and drafting and advising on domestic and international franchise and licence agreements. We also co-ordinate infringement actions in the UK, and cross border actions in the Americas, Asia, and Europe.
