Distinguished speakers to address hot topics in international arbitration

Today, Friday 1 March, Fox Williams hosts a panel of distinguished speakers who will debate two hot topics in arbitration: the proper law of an agreement to arbitrate; and the admissibility of illegally obtained evidence. Both debate topics are procedural issues that arise in this year’s Vis Moot problem.

Chaired by Fox Williams international arbitration partner Peter Ashford, the panellists are The Rt Hon Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury, Sir Michael Burton, Paula Hodges QC and Graham Dunning QC. They will be speaking before an invited audience of international arbitration experts.

The debate is being held to mark the opening of the fourth Fox Williams Pre-Moot, this year taking place in association with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, over the weekend 2-3 March. It is now an established event in the UK’s pre-mooting calendar for university teams preparing for the Vis Moot in Vienna. Sixteen mooting teams from UK and international universities will be participating, including seven UK teams and nine from universities located in Europe, Russia and Japan.
