16 teams from nine different countries will compete in London, 28 Feb – 1 March 2020

The teams have now been announced for the fifth Fox Williams Pre-Moot, being held in association with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

This year we will welcome 16 mooting teams from UK and international universities. The nine international teams are from countries in Europe, plus Russia and Japan, while the UK is represented by seven institutions. The teams are as follows:

International teams

  • Aix-Marseille University (France)
  • University of Ljubljana (Slovenia)
  • Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia)
  • Saarland University (Germany)
  • University of Turku (Finland)
  • Higher School of Economics Moscow (Russia)
  • University of San Diego (USA)

UK teams

  • University of Cambridge
  • University of East Anglia
  • Queen Mary University of London
  • King’s College London
  • University of Leicester
  • University of Aberdeen
  • UCL
  • BPP University

Day one of the competition will take place at the offices of the CIArb and the final will be held at Fox Williams’ offices on day two, Sunday 1 March.

Amongst the competing teams, we will also be welcoming back last year’s runner up, the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Other returning teams include Aix-Marseille University (France), Kobe University (Japan) and the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).

Peter Ashford, the firm’s head of international arbitration, will be chairing the event. Peter said, “We are delighted to welcome several new university teams to this year’s competition and are looking forward to hearing how they will address this year’s mooting problem.
