Sona is Co-Head of the Financial Services Department at Fox Williams and is the Financial Services Contentious and Investigations practice lead.
Sona represents corporates and senior executives involved in FCA, SFO and FRC investigations and has experience of cross border investigations involving regulatory bodies and prosecuting authorities based in the US and EU. She advises on a broad range of complex financial services regulatory issues and supervisory queries, particularly on matters involving market misconduct; money laundering; fraud; bribery and corruption; financial misstatements; systems and controls failures; consumer credit related activities; payment services and e-money; and change in control regime concerns.
Sona has particular interest and expertise in advising clients based in the FinTech sector who are facing particularly complex challenges in the current regulatory climate.
Sona leads the firm’s internal corporate investigations offering and has extensive expertise in managing sensitive and complex investigations, both inside and outside the regulated sector and across a number of jurisdictions, as well as acting for senior executives involved in such investigations. Her instructions regularly require liaising with a number of internal and external stakeholders including regulators, law enforcement authorities and Government bodies and committees.
Sona has invaluable first-hand experience through her secondment to the (then) FSA Enforcement Division and is able to draw upon that experience to navigate her clients through the enforcement process.
