The application process for training contracts is now open and will close on 9 April 2017.
What can I expect from a training contract at Fox Williams?
Imagine being trained by a partner who is recognised as being a leader in their field, and imagine being trained on a one-to-one basis with that partner, to ensure you are getting the best training.
You can expect to work alongside not just one partner, but several, all of whom are actively training you, taking an interest in you, supporting and developing you.
At times you will be the sole trainee in a department and this means constantly learning from a team of exceptionally bright, focused and approachable individuals.
Fox Williams trainees enjoy a great deal of responsibility from the very outset of the training contract. We realise that this might seem a daunting prospect to you, but you will be provided with the support needed to enable you to welcome this responsibility and subsequently learn and develop at a quicker pace.
You get to have the entire team supporting you
The support that you will receive both professionally and personally at Fox Williams we believe is second to none. We appreciate that embarking on your training contract with us will be a steep learning curve but we will provide you with an effective support network.
You will be supported on a day to day basis by a number of colleagues, your supervising partner, your team and the Human Resource and Training department. You will even have a Buddy to ask those “silly” questions. We hope you will come to know every member of staff on a first name basis and that they in turn will come to know you. This ensures that there will always be a friendly and approachable face to provide you with advice or to point you in the right direction.
You get to work with great people
At Fox Williams you will get to work with great people and be part of a team that has been awarded the Silver Investors in People accreditation. It has also been named in The Times Best 100 Companies listing as “one to watch”. Fox Williams is renowned throughout the City as being a great place to work.
We are dedicated to providing a supportive open and friendly working environment for all staff. Providing and supporting this unique working environment is as crucial to the success of the firm as our clients are. We achieve and protect this unique atmosphere by recruiting the right people, people who are not only intelligent, business minded and focused, but are also approachable, friendly and have a sense of humour and of course are supportive to their colleagues.
You get to have a great working social life
At Fox Williams we have a dedicated Social and Charity Committee which regularly organises events for all staff. This year events have included a lunch time charity cake bake, a city treasure hunt and a night of ping pong and pizza. This is in addition to our Christmas Party and our quarterly firm-wide get togethers. Along with the organised events you will find that there are frequently informal social gatherings both in-department and across the departments.
Naturally, your fellow trainees will form part of your social network and regular get togethers are commonplace.
You get to have excellent quality training
As a Fox Williams trainee, you will have the opportunity to be individually trained by partners and lawyers who are experts in their respective fields. This is borne out by the many entries that we have in the Legal 500 and Chambers. However, perhaps you could say that about many of the City's law firms, but we believe that the training that we offer here at Fox Williams is different to that offered at other firms. Our small intake of trainees each year guarantees that you will have the opportunity to work on a one-to-one basis with many of our expert partners and it would not be unusual for you to have training from all partners in the department.
You get to be part of the team
You should expect to be regarded as part of the team at Fox Williams from day one. We will actively involve you and expect you to be involved in all aspects of the departments work load and of the firm’s ongoing success. This involvement will range from client meetings to firm-wide marketing initiatives and will be as wide ranging as being involved in the Merger and Acquisition in our Corporate team, to becoming an active member of our Social and Charity Committee. You will be asked for your comments and input into the department business plans and your opinions will be sought on firm-wide initiatives.
