Paul is a partner in our Corporate department.

As well as advising on a range of corporate issues such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity, Paul has specialist banking and insolvency expertise.

Paul graduated with an honours degree in law from the University of Hull in 1988. He then completed his Law Society finals at Chester Law School. Paul was articled at Lovells (including secondments to Esso and Clayton Utz in Australia).

After 14 years with Hobson Audley (latterly Faegre & Benson), he joined Fox Williams LLP as a partner in 2008. His clients include AIM listed companies, partnerships, licensed insolvency practitioners and property investors.

He has recently set up and leads Fox Williams’ Start-Up practice group.

Representative transactions include:


  • Advising a family office on a US dollars 70 million facility from Credit Suisse
  • Negotiating trade finance facilities for SuperGroup from HSBC as part of SuperGroup's full market list
  • Negotiating $70m facilities from the Asian Bank of Research and Development in favour of certain Armenian banks
  • Advising several US parents and UK subsidiaries on the refinancing of their global bank facilities


  • Advising year Euroview Manufacturing Limited on the sale of their domestic glass manufacturing business to Synseal Limited.
  • Acquisition and disposal of a £130m property portfolio
  • Advising on the sale of Expand Research Group to Boston Consulting Group
  • Advising on the sale of PSS Plant Hire to A Hire Group
  • Sale of three separate IT training/networking companies to the National Computing Centre (Impact, CIO Connect and PMP)
  • Advising the shareholders’ of Bridgehouse Marine Limited on the disposal of a global maritime business to HC2 Holdings Limited for an equity value of $160m
  • Advising the shareholders’ on the sale of four Pandora franchise stores back to Pandora Group plc
  • Advising the management of Apollo Lifts on a secondary management buy out


  • Advising on the pre-pack acquisition of the business of Washington Green Art galleries
  • Advising various companies on wrongful trading concerns


  • Advising Velocity Mobile Limited on various rounds of fundraising
  • Advising HipChips Limited on various matters since their launch including various rounds of fundraising
  • Advising QiO Technologies Limited on a range of legal issues surrounding their development including various fund raising rounds.
  • Advising on the establishment of Blue Hackle (a security business)
  • Advising on the establishment of New College of the Humanities including various follow on fundraisings;
  • Advising Street Car on various stages of its development and advising management on its disposal to Zip Car Limited
