Recruitment process

The application process for training contracts is now closed and we are assessing the applications submitted. We hope to re-open our application process in December 2018.

All our trainees will be chosen from our July 2018 vacation scheme. Please ensure you are available to fully participate in our scheme by attending for one week between 16 July – 27 July 2018.

What is the recruitment process?

Each application is carefully read and considered against our criteria by our lawyers and a member of the graduate recruitment team. All our lawyers are hand-picked to ensure that Fox Williams is the right place for them, and for us. It is what makes us able to provide a great service to our clients, and create an engaging working culture. 

Prior to the vacation scheme in July we will be inviting our top 30 scorers from their application forms, for drinks and canapés on either Thursday 14 or Tuesday 19 June 2018. Please keep one of these dates free to come and meet us at our offices. To complement your application form you will be asked to complete a verbal reasoning test before attending one of these evenings.

Of the 30 of you who attend the evening event, only 12 of you will be invited to attend our vacation scheme. It is here that you will get to know the firm even better and we hope that of the 12 of you attending potentially half of you will qualify for a training contract offer - if you meet our requirements.

The Fox Williams one week vacation scheme rotates you round five of our departments so you see what different aspects of the Law involve. During the week you will also be assessed through a written technical exercise, and a practical group exercise. On the Thursday you will have a short interview with two partners based on the technical exercise completed earlier in the week with us. We believe this process of assessment of future trainees is more effective as you will get to know us and understand what it means to work at Fox Williams which sets us apart from other Law firms.

If you are successful at the vacation scheme stage, you will be invited for one further formal competency based interview with a different two partners.

News: If you are one of our top 30 scorers from your application form, you will be invited to one of our drinks and canapés evenings by the end of May 2018. An offer of a training contract will be made to successful candidates after the vacation scheme and formal interviews by the end of July, or early August. We are looking for trainees for September 2018, March 2019 and September 2019. 

If you are selected to join us as a trainee, you would be introduced to other members of the firm at social events so that there are a few familiar faces before you start.
