Jane is a partner in the pre-eminent employment and HRLaw team at Fox Williams and is considered one of the sector's top experts in representing both senior executives and employers. She is a member of the firm’s Partnership Board. Jane has been consecutively ranked by the key independent guides to UK law firms as a ‘leading individual’, in Chambers and Partners and in Legal 500, who also recognised her in their 2018 inaugural Hall of Fame. Jane is recommended in Who's Who Legal – Labour & Employment 2018, recognised in the latest edition of Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom for Employment and in Spear’s Guide.
Jane has been a partner in the employment team at Fox Williams since 1994. She is immensely experienced and has advised clients in many different sectors including technology, financial services, insurance and professional services; she advises a number of companies and partnerships in these sectors on a wide variety of HR issues. Her advice and help is often sought in relation to board room issues advising both boards and individual directors on contracts, succession, disputes, restrictive covenants and reputational issues. She has advised a number of CEOs including Eric Daniels, former CEO of Lloyds Banking Group. Clients value her commercial acumen, judgement and experience.
Jane is a long standing member of the firm’s partnership board, and her knowledge of the inner workings of a professional firm has led to her advice being sought by the management teams of other professional firms. She also advises individual partners when joining or leaving their firms or dealing with internal issues affecting them personally.
She has been part of the management team that has led the firm from small start-up to successful established city firm and therefore understands very well the challenges faced by entrepreneurial clients.
Discrimination law has long been a core practice area for Jane and she has pursued and defended a great many discrimination claims at pre action stage and in the employment tribunal. She was part of the team at Fox Williams who defended Chelsea FC and Jose Mourinho against the claims brought by Dr Eva Carneiro.
During her career Jane has undertaken a great deal of employment litigation; accordingly she has considerable experience of defending and bringing claims for unfair and wrongful dismissal in the employment tribunal and of supervising junior lawyers in undertaking this work for employers and employees.
Jane co-founded the Employment Lawyers Association and served on its board for 10 years including two years as chair; she has also sat on the boards of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association and the City HR Association.
Throughout her career Jane has advised international clients on global mobility and on the UK laws and regulations relating to overseas employees moving to and working in the UK.
