Fox Williams recently co-hosted an event on crowdfunding with the Canada -UK Chamber of Commerce. Nicola Horlick, fund manager and CEO of Money&Co, gave the keynote speech on the various options available to SMEs looking to raise debt or equity through crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending. Nicola subsequently joined a panel session moderated by Jonathan Segal, Fox Williams partner and fintech and alternative finance expert, alongside Michael Wilkinson, head of equity at crowdfunding platform Crowdcube. The audience came away with a sense as to whether equity crowdfunding and debt based peer-to-peer lending was right for their business or investment profile.
Jonathan Segal said “This was a timely discussion and the audience heard from the panel about what makes a successful debt and equity fundraising. Many of our clients wish to access finance through crowdfunding, and are looking at setting up new and exciting platforms, such as in the real estate space.”
Richie Clark, Fox Williams’ head of corporate and chairman of the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce’s SME forum said: “The event was an excellent opportunity for the Canadian and UK entrepreneurs and SMEs who attended to learn about crowdfunding as a possibility for growing their businesses. Fox Williams’ sponsorship of the event once again underlined the firm’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and SMEs as well as our specialist expertise in fintech and crowdfunding.”
