The UK Fashion & Textile Association has prevented a fashion internship website from using its logo without permission.
Fashionweekinternships.com, which offers fashion internship opportunities in exchange for payment, was associating itself with the UKFT by using its well-known logo, according to law firm Fox Williams.
The UKFT was concerned that members of the public and the fashion industry would think it endorsed the website and its offering.
Fox Williams was appointed to handle the case. Partner Simon Bennett said: “It was important for the UKFT to stop this website from using the distinctive UKFT logo. The value and integrity of a brand can be tarnished if the brand owner does not act to stop use in circumstances like this.”
The site was also using the logo of the British Fashion Council, but this has now also been removed.
