16 teams will compete in London, March 2019
The fourth Fox Williams Pre-Moot, scheduled for Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March 2019, will be held for the first time in association with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The Pre-Moot will be preceded by a panel debate for practitioners on the afternoon of Friday 1 March 2019.
This Pre-Moot is now an established event in the mooting calendar and provides university teams who will compete at the Vis Moot the opportunity to practise their skills before panels of experienced practitioners.
Peter Ashford, partner and head of international arbitration at Fox Williams, will host the Pre-Moot together with members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, prior to attending as a judge at the Vis Moot in Vienna, which takes place in April 2019.
Peter Ashford said: “Our new association with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators means that we can increase the number of competing teams to 16, from 10 in previous years, and access a wider pool of arbitrators through the Institute. In 2018 we saw a high standard of arguments from the finalists (Cambridge prevailed and went on to reach the final in Vienna) and we are anticipating another very competitive Pre-Moot. Team places are filling up quickly so those interested in applying should contact us now. And we are always delighted to welcome members of the profession who wish to sit as judges.“
