City law firm Fox Williams has today announced that Rhys Griffiths, a travel law specialist, joins the firm as partner and head of the travel group in the firm’s commerce and technology practice.
Rhys joins Fox Williams from Fieldfisher, where he was partner and head of the travel group. His expertise lies in advising travel clients on the complex web of laws and regulatory requirements that apply to the sale of travel services in Europe.
“Rhys’s expertise and proven ability in delivering regulatory advice to businesses in the travel industry will enable Fox Williams to significantly broaden our offering in this sector. Developments in the travel industry mean that the clients Rhys acts for will be able to benefit from our recognised expertise in fintech, data privacy and commercial contracts, as well as corporate, employment and immigration” said Paul Osborne, senior partner at Fox Williams.
Rhys frequently represents clients in response to investigations and proceedings by regulators and industry trade associations. Most recently, he has represented multiple travel companies in response to investigations by the Competition and Markets Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority. He also has experience of negotiating tailored regulatory solutions with the regulators on behalf of his clients.
Stephen Sidkin, head of commerce and technology at Fox Williams, commented: “Brands in the travel sector have become household names in recent years. But with growth comes complexity, which results in the need for careful and sophisticated legal advice. Rhys will be a great asset to our practice. For many years, he has been the travel industry’s go-to lawyer, so he joins us specifically to further strengthen our capabilities in this area.”
Rhys also has significant experience helping travel clients launch new products and enter new markets. He acts for well-known brands intending to launch or expand their own travel business, both domestically and internationally.
Rhys Griffiths commented: “I am delighted to be joining Fox Williams with a mandate to lead a multi-disciplinary travel sector team capable of offering a one-stop legal service to the travel industry. The strength of Fox Williams’ existing retail, agency and distribution platform is a perfect fit with my travel expertise, which will allow me to expand and deepen the service we can offer our clients in the travel industry.”
