Brexit and beyond: the changing immigration landscape for EU and non-EU nationals

Fox Williams held an immigration webinar on Wednesday 16 October 2019, that cut through the confusion and speculation relating to Brexit and immigration issues.

The UK’s withdrawal from the EU continues to be a work in progress, making it challenging for individuals and businesses to keep abreast of frequent changes and their implications in the face of proposed new policy and Government announcements.

The current system continues to cause concern both for those in the UK currently and those intending to transfer to work here, and we highlighted the key points for employers in order to provide employees with the guidance and support they need today.

Given the strategic importance to businesses of maintaining and refreshing the talent pool, we examined the Government’s proposed far-reaching rethink on immigration and what this meant for workforce planning and strategy. We looked at the impact of the proposals on EU nationals as well as those from outside the EU who will be coming to the UK to work.

The webinar considered the current rules and obligations incumbent on employers and employees and what they need to consider, whether there is a new agreement with the EU or in the case of a no deal Brexit.

Sacha Schoenfeld, head of Fox Williams’ immigration practice, and Jane Mann, partner in Fox Williams’ employment law team, delivered the presentation.
