City law firm Fox Williams has strengthened its real estate team with the appointment of partner Nish Kapoor.
Kapoor, who joins the 35-partner firm on 1 October 2020, was previously head of commercial real estate in London for Mundays, a role he has held since January 2018.
Fox Williams’ real estate team, led by partners Phillip Hope and Elizabeth Ruff and legal director Rebecca Evans, has a strong reputation in acting for large occupiers and developers in the City, West End and Home Counties. The firm also acts for a number of international clients, predominantly from the Middle East and the Far East.
The team has recently advised on a significant amount of office portfolio work in and around Cavendish Square and Oxford Street, let two floors of the iconic Scalpel Building in the City to a retail financial services business, and is leading on a significant regeneration site in Old Kent Road.
Kapoor brings to the firm recognised strengths in City landlord and tenant matters, with a strong client following in venture capital, tech, fintech and proptech markets as well as investor and developer landlords with portfolios in the City and beyond. He is well-connected in the investment and occupier London agency markets.
Commenting on his appointment Kapoor said: “The City real estate market, whilst remaining opportunistic, continues to show demand for premium quality Grade A and flexible space, despite offices operating well below pre-Covid capacity. Fox Williams is held in high regard and its real estate team punches well above its weight. I am excited to join the team and help develop the business.”
Phillip Hope, partner and head of real estate at Fox Williams said: “The real estate market comprises many different industry sectors and investors, and not all have been affected by Covid as deeply as the retail landlords and occupiers. Developers and investors remain active and City space continues to be attractive. We are delighted by Nish’s decision to join the firm and look forward to working alongside him and his clients.”
Paul Osborne, senior partner at Fox Williams said: “Fox Williams is an ambitious firm with a clear and independent position in the City legal market. We continue to attract high quality partners, each of whom brings further strategic strengths to our client offer.
“Four partners have joined the firm since May and other appointments are in the pipeline. We have recently welcomed Pollyanna Deane from Simmons & Simmons into our financial services group to boost our insurance offering, in June Fox Williams alumnus Kolvin Stone joined from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, bringing specialist cybersecurity and data privacy expertise to complement our existing technology practice, which he now leads, and in September Ben Giaretta joined the firm from Mishcon’s to co-lead our first class international arbitration practice.
“Each of our new partners enhances our reputation in key sectors and practice areas, enabling us to respond more effectively to market demand.”
