On Tuesday 30 March we co-hosted a joint webinar with Smith & Williamson that discussed the recently released Kalifa Review of UK Fintech. We were delighted that Ron Kalifa OBE was able to join us to share his insights from the Review.

The Review was bold in its ambitions to position the UK as the leading market for fintech businesses. It included a number of recommendations across a wide range of areas including policy and regulations, talent and skills, investment, international opportunities and UK connectivity.

The event included a panel discussion where we discussed some of the key findings from the Review and their wider implications for the Fintech market. In addition to Ron, we were joined by the following panellists:

  • Tim Levene, Managing Partner at Augmentum Capital, the only listed fintech-focused venture capital firm in the UK, having launched on the main market of the London Stock Exchange in 2018
  • Sten Saar, Founder and CEO of Zego, the UK’s most recent and first InsurTech Unicorn
  • Karen Kerrigan, Chief Operating Officer at Moneybox, the savings and investment app with over 500,000 customers and over £1 billion in assets under management
  • Jonathan Segal, Head of Fintech, Fox Williams LLP

The panel was chaired by Tom Shave, Smith & Williamson’s Fintech lead partner.
