Fox Williams today announces a new partner appointment to strengthen its FinTech practice, bringing additional expertise in regulated financial products to the firm. Peter Finch, who joins from Hogan Lovells, is Fox Williams’ sixth partner hire in the last 18 months.
Peter is an experienced regulated products lawyer, with particular expertise in consumer credit, mortgages and payments, covering both incumbent financial services players and fast-growth FinTechs.
Alongside providing advice on current or incoming regulation, Peter has helped clients launch a range of innovative regulated products for retail, SME and corporate customers, and also regularly advises firms on their authorisation requirements. Peter is also experienced in helping clients with transactional activity, including investment into FinTechs and consumer loan portfolio acquisitions and disposals.
Peter was previously a senior associate in the Banking, Lending and Payments team at Hogan Lovells and has worked at both Barclays and Lloyds where he provided legal advice to the retail, SME and corporate businesses. Whilst at Hogan Lovells he also completed client secondments to TSB and HSBC Private Bank.
Peter says: “I’m really pleased to join the growing team at Fox Williams, which has a great reputation for providing commercial advice to clients in the FinTech space. In particular, I’m looking forward to bringing my experience in the consumer lending space and my expertise advising traditional bricks and mortar banks, digital banks, lenders, blockchain businesses and payment processors to Fox Williams’ clients.”
Jon Segal, head of the FinTech practice says: “Peter is a great addition to the Fox Williams FinTech team. He has significant experience advising FinTech companies on regulated products as well as advising institutions investing into FinTech companies themselves.
“His understanding of the consumer lending market will be of significant benefit to our clients and his considerable financial regulation expertise strengthens our offer to the market.”
Commenting on Peter’s appointment, Senior Partner, Paul Osborne says: “We’re delighted to welcome Peter to the firm. FinTech is an important and growing sector for both Fox Williams and UK plc. His arrival reinforces our impressive credentials and leading reputation in this field and further complements our wider Financial Services and Corporate practice areas.”
