Fox Williams advised UK-based Tavira Securities Limited on the UK aspects of its application for permission to the Italian authorities for permission to provide investment services in Italy on a cross-border basis. Authorisation has been granted by the Italian securities regulator, CONSOB, in agreement with the Bank of Italy. The Fox Williams team was led by financial services partner Chris Finney.

Tavira is a UK investment firm specialised in the provision of investment brokerage services to professional investors – in particular, on equity, fixed income and commodity derivatives.

Italian law firm Lexia advised Tavira on the Italian aspects of the agreement with a team led by Francesco Dagnino, managing partner of Lexia Milano, and Angelo Messore, head of the financial services practice, together with the associates Filippo Belfatto, Carlo Giuliano and Carlotta Mastria.

Chris Finney said: “We’re pleased to have been able to help Tavira Securities achieve regulatory authorisation in Italy and to have had another opportunity to work closely with our Italian counterparts. It demonstrates the strength of our firm in advising on international matters of the utmost importance to our clients.“

Francesco Dagnino said: “A number of UK financial institutions are looking to operate in Italy and Tavira’s authorisation confirms that despite Brexit it is still possible to operate cross-border from the UK to Italy and vice versa by following the procedures contemplated under the law.”
