Boldwood Books, the adult fiction publisher, has won the Fox Williams Independent Publisher of the Year Award at the Independent Publishers’ Guild (IPG) Awards 2022 that took place on 27 April.

The Publisher of the Year Award is the IPG’s flagship award of its annual awards ceremony and is chosen from a shortlist made up of its five Publisher of the Year category winners. The Awards ceremony honours the success and creativity of the UK’s independent publishing sector.

Head of publishing and digital media at Fox Williams, partner Mary Elliott who judged and presented the Publisher of the Year Award said: “Huge congratulations to Boldwood Books. I was especially struck by the winner’s outstanding reputation in their field, their delivery of brilliant marketing and publicity and the innovation right across its operations and in just a few short years. That said, it was an incredibly difficult decision and all the shortlisted publishers would all have been worthy winners.

“Fox Williams is delighted to continue to support the IPG and the independent publishing sector as a whole. This afternoon’s awards ceremony was testament to what a thriving industry we have in the UK and we’re delighted to play a role in its development.”

Bridget Shine, chief executive of the IPG, said: This year’s Independent Publishing Awards were our biggest yet, and the standard of entries was phenomenally high. It has been a challenging two years for everyone in publishing, but you wouldn’t know it from these Awards, which display the incredible resilience, innovation and diversity of IPG members. Independent publishing is flourishing, and it is an enormous pleasure to celebrate the success of all the brilliant businesses and people shortlisted at the Awards.”
