Ireland is preparing to introduce a new Senior Executive Accountability Regime (SEAR) which is the country’s answer to the UK’s Senior Manager & Certification Regime (SMCR). The introduction of the Regime will see the scope for personal exposure and director/manager liability within Irish regulated financial firms expand dramatically.

Financial services partner Chris Finney was a guest speaker at Irish law firm, Mason Hayes + Curran‘s webinar on 13 October to talk about the UK’s real world SMCR experience and how that may inform what happens in the Republic of Ireland.

The event was moderated by Liam Flynn, Partner & Co-Head of Financial Regulation, Mason Hayes & Curran with speakers:

  • Chris Finney, Partner, Fox Williams
  • Davina Saint, Independent Non-Executive Director
  • Peter Johnston, Dispute Resolution Partner, Mason Hayes & Curran
  • Sarah Cloonan, Financial Regulation Partner, Mason Hayes & Curran
  • Ger Connolly, Employment Law & Benefits Partner, Mason Hayes & Curran
