Gavin Foggo takes over the role from Paul Osborne on 1 May 2023

Fox Williams today announces the appointment of Gavin Foggo as its new Senior Partner effective from 1 May 2023.

Gavin, who is head of the dispute resolution department, replaces Paul Osborne, who is standing down after a hugely successful decade in the role. Paul will continue as a corporate partner of the firm.

Gavin, who will become the firm’s fourth Senior Partner in its 34-year history, joined Fox Williams in January 1990 as its first trainee and was promoted to partner in 2001. He has been a member of the firm’s Partnership Board since it was formed in 2005.

Gavin says: “I’m honoured to take over as Senior Partner from Paul, who has led the firm so effectively since 2013. We are about to roll out our new strategic plan and I will be driving this forward to build on the momentum developed during Paul’s leadership.

“Continuing the impressive recent growth in our international practice will be a priority. Having helped develop the firm’s global reach, I am confident we are in a good position to grow this further in the years ahead.

“It is also vital to ensure we maintain the standards our clients expect from us and that we continue to anticipate their commercial legal needs.

“Finally, having been at Fox Williams since the start of my legal career, I know the culture of the firm is enormously important in creating a positive working environment. Safeguarding our values and focusing on our diversity and inclusion are further personal priorities.”

Since 2013, Paul has overseen significant growth in turnover and profitability including the development of key sectors such as financial services, technology, and professional services; a 71% increase in headcount and a move to new premises. The firm’s most recent financial results also saw it enter the Legal Business 100. Revenue has increased during Paul’s tenure from £14m (2013) to more than £35m, as projected for April 2023.

Paul says: “It has been a huge privilege to lead the firm. Fox Williams is now a well-established, thriving second-generation firm. I cannot thank every member of the firm enough for their dedication, commitment, and the way they have pulled together as a team.

“I have complete confidence that Gavin will make an excellent Senior Partner. He has developed the dispute resolution group beyond recognition over the past 12 years which now boasts leading financial services and securities litigation practice areas.

“Gavin will offer not only continuity but will bring his own personality and energy to continue the firm’s growth trajectory. Gavin has a clear vision for the future which will focus on delivering the firm’s new strategic plan.

“The whole firm joins me in wishing Gavin every success in his new role, where he will enjoy our full support.”
