1. UK Consumer protection: The Government has recently published the long-awaited Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Bill. This will give regulators significant new enforcement powers to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws such as the Package Travel Regulations. This includes the ability to impose fines of up to 10% of global turnover. We explain what the new laws will mean for travel companies and how to prepare for their introduction.
2. EU Tax reforms: Guest presenter Damon Wright is an Indirect Tax Director at Evelyn Partners. Damon provide an update on the existing and proposed EU VAT legislation. This is especially relevant for any business facilitating the booking of travel services via an online platform, especially those offering short-term accommodation and passenger transport.
