In partnership with the Anglo-Australasian Lawyers Society, Fox Williams hosted a discussion with AIRCDRE Hon Justice Melissa Perry of the Federal Court of Australia on Wednesday 11 September 2024 on the hot topic of AI regulation in the UK and Australia.
Joined in conversation by technology partner, Kolvin Stone, Justice Perry drew on historical events and early international conventions protecting global communication systems and the content of communications, to draw parallels with challenges facing the world in regulating deep fakes in particular, and to illuminate the different contexts in which these issues arise today.
In addition to serving as a Federal Court judge, Justice Perry also occupies the role of Deputy Judge Advocate General of the Air Force and Deputy President of the Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal. With her extensive background in technology and the rule of law, including automated decision-making and AI, Justice Perry’s insights were invaluable.
