Fox Williams has advised Starling Bank on its acquisition of Ember Digital Limited (now Ember by Starling Limited), a UK-based fintech providing accounting and tax services to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Ember’s tax and bookkeeping software will be built into Starling Bank’s app and online bank, providing small business owners with an all-in-one solution to manage their finances, from bank transactions to tax submission. The acquisition supports Starling Bank’s mission to enhance its offering to business customers and further strengthen its position in the UK banking sector.
The transaction was led by corporate partner Guy Morgan, supported by senior associate Stephanie Tsang and associates Olivia Brooks and Li Ann Chew. They were assisted by a cross-disciplinary team across the firm including Kaleem Khan who advised on tax, Daisy Jones who provided support on the employment aspects, and Peter Finch and Dominique Logan who provided financial services expertise.
